Polimaster’s hand-held instruments and identifiers detect, measure, search for and identify radiation sources. In ensuring radiation control and safety, it is first necessary to detect and locate the sources of ionizing (tissue damaging) radiation. But in order to determine the level of danger caused by the substance for people and the surrounding environment it is also necessary to identify the exact type and nature of the source. Identifying the source allows police, emergency teams and other first responders to react quickly and correctly.
While these tasks are often solved by two separate instruments, Polimaster manufactures instruments that make it possible to perform both tasks successfully and simultaneously. These instruments are capable of detecting and locating any radioactive and nuclear materials while also measuring all necessary alpha, beta, gamma and neutron radiation. Additionally, these instruments measure gamma spectra and identify the radioisotope composition of a radiation source. The identifiers store the spectra in their memory to transmit the information to a PC through either an infrared or radio (Bluetooth) channel for further processing and identification.
These products are produced as hand-held instruments that come in a case and are easily clipped onto a belt or carried in a pocket.
